MSCI 461 - Marine Biological Invasions (3 credits)

(Prereq: permission of the instructor, and MSCI 302/MSCI 302L or BIOL 370/BIOL 370L) An integrated overview of background, theory, natural history, biogeography, physiological ecology, and current status of biological invasions in marine habitats. Proven and potential impacts to estuarine and marine communities, ecosystems, fisheries, and conservation will be discussed and integrated with current models. Life history traits and vectors will be evaluated and related to control strategies, resource management, and policy as well as global climate change, biodiversity, and aquaculture using the primary literature as a foundation.
