Particular attention is paid to the many variant perspectives expressed in documents of the period; these include Byzantine critiques of Western crusaders, Muslim depictions of Christian opponents, Jewish protestation of anti-Semitic acts, Christian rhetoric promoting crusade, and gendered responses to crusade.
