ENGL 212 - Theories of Visual Rhetoric (3 credits) (Prereq: A grade of ‘C’ or better in ENGL 101 and ENGL 102 ; a grade of ‘B’ or better in ENGL 210 and ENGL 211 ) An introduction to the history, principles, theories and techniques of designing usable documents with an emphasis on rhetorical analysis and the integration of verbal and visual language. Students study the rhetorical qualities of fonts, typefaces, and the theories and principles that have guided the complex interactions of words and images from antiquity to electronic writing spaces.
