PHYS 341 Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics - 3 credits

Prerequisite(s): MATH 161 or MATH 161B, PHYS 214, and PHYS 212 or PHYS 213
An introduction to thermal physics and statistical mechanics, covering entropy, heat, temperature, the Carnot Cycle, free energy, thermodynamic potential, phase equilibria, and the laws of thermodynamics. The connection between the interactions of single particles and the bulk properties of matter will be developed.
