MBA 622 - Financial Institution and Markets (3 credits) Course gives a basic introduction to financial institutions and markets globally with emphasis in the United States. The course is divided into four parts: the Federal Reserve as an institution, its structure and how it implements monetary policy; how interest rates are determined; an overview of financial markets including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and foreign exchange; and modern banking institutions and other financial intermediaries. Real-life examples will be used throughout the course, and the curriculum will have a special emphasis on rhetoric and communication skills. F, S
