RELG 203 - Studying Religion: Theory and Methods (3 credits)

This course is an introduction to theory and method in the academic study of religion. It is not a survey of different religions (though students explore several religions). The course encourages students to think critically about the role of religion in individual and collective life around the world. Course material is designed to help students understand and apply these ideas to the religious behavior and beliefs of real people, cultures and societies, and evaluate and formulate arguments that explain these behaviors and beliefs.
