Degree Requirements (120 Credits)


Students must earn a grade of ‘C’ or better in each course used to satisfy major requirements, cognate requirements, and minor requirements.

Students must earn grades of ‘C’ or better in PSYC 101 , PSYC 225 /PSYC 225L , and PSYC 226 /PSYC 226L  because these courses are required for the major.

Psychology Electives


  • Choose two 300-400 level elective courses from psychology (PSYC). Choose courses that have not already previously been selected (these courses may not include PSYC 399 , PSYC 490 , PSYC 495 , or PSYC 498 /PSYC 499 ).

Cognate Requirement (12 Credits)


Psychology majors will select an interdisciplinary cognate of upper level courses with the approval of their faculty adviser. A grade of ‘C’ or better is required in each course to be applied toward the cognate. Six credits from PSYC 399 , PSYC 490 , or PSYC 498 /PSYC 499  can be used to fulfill the cognate requirement.

The cognate requirement can also be fulfilled by completion of a minor, the Behavioral Neuroscience Concentration, the Forensics Concentration, or the Gerontology Certificate program
