Career Services at Coastal Carolina University empowers students and alumni to explore career paths, pursue graduate education, and achieve their professional goals. Through personalized guidance and a wide range of resources, the department supports the development of career readiness and lifelong success.
Career Services offers individualized career counseling to help students and alumni assess their values, interests, skills, and personality traits. This process supports informed decisions about academic majors and career directions. The department collaborates closely with faculty, First-Year Experience programs, student organizations, and employers to help students set and achieve meaningful career objectives.
To support job and internship searches, Career Services provides access to a variety of tools and opportunities. These include:
- Career Fairs and Networking Events: Held each fall and spring, these events connect students and alumni with employers through on-campus and virtual formats.
- Employer Engagement: Workshops, presentations, and on-campus interviews led by industry professionals offer valuable insights and connections.
- Professional Development: Programs and resources help students build resumes, practice interviews, and develop job search strategies.
Students also have access to Handshake, a nationwide platform for job and internship postings, as well as online tools for interview preparation, employer research, and career exploration.
The internship program offers students in all majors the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields. Internships may be completed for academic credit or on a non-credit basis, providing valuable professional exposure and networking opportunities.
Lib Jackson Student Union

The Lib Jackson Student Union is more than a building. It is the “living room” of our campus. The union houses a 230-seat movie theater offering discounted movies on the weekends, a state-of-the-art game room where students can relax between classes by playing a game of pool or video games, and a variety of lounge spaces for students to decompress between classes. In addition to some meeting spaces, the building houses a Student Organization Resource Center (SORC), where any student organization can utilize supplies, meet, and prepare for their many events and activities.

Military & Veteran Services at Coastal Carolina University is dedicated to supporting the success of military-connected students, including active-duty service members, veterans, and their dependents. The department serves as a central resource for navigating the university experience and accessing military education benefits.
The office is home to the school certifying officials, who assist students in utilizing their U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) educational benefits. These professionals provide guidance on eligibility, certification, and compliance to ensure a smooth transition into academic life.
Military & Veteran Services also advises the Student Veterans Association (SVA), a recognized student organization that fosters community, advocacy, and peer support. In collaboration with the department’s staff, the SVA works to enhance the student experience for veterans and their families through events, outreach, and leadership opportunities.
Through personalized support and commitment to student success, Military & Veteran Services helps military-affiliated students thrive both academically and personally at CCU.
Orientation, Transition, and Family Programs

Orientation, Transition, and Family Programs (OTFP) at Coastal Carolina University supports the successful transition of undergraduate students and their families into the CCU community. Through a variety of programs and services, OTFP helps students navigate the academic, social, and personal changes that come with college life.
The department designs and delivers comprehensive orientation and transition experiences for all incoming students. These programs are crafted to prepare students for the opportunities and challenges of university life—academically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. OTFP also provides ongoing support for current students as they progress through their academic journey and grow into engaged, successful Chanticleer alumni.
In addition to student-focused initiatives, OTFP fosters meaningful connections with families. The department coordinates family weekend, collaborates with the family council, and offers resources to help families stay informed and involved in their student’s college experience.
OTFP is also home to a vibrant student leadership program. Orientation leaders, team leaders, and student coordinators play a key role in welcoming new students and families, while developing their own leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.

Student Involvement & Leadership at Coastal Carolina University serves as a central hub for cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and engaged campus community. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, the department empowers students to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and make meaningful connections.
The department is organized into several key functional areas:
- Civic and Community Engagement
This area encourages students to become active citizens by participating in service initiatives, engaging with local and global communities, and promoting positive social change. Programs foster a strong sense of civic responsibility and ethical leadership.
- Fraternity and Sorority Life
Focused on values-based leadership, this area supports a community of fraternities and sororities that emphasize service, scholarship, friendship, leadership, and philanthropy. Students involved in Greek life gain lifelong connections and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
- Student Organizations and Leadership
With nearly 200 student-led organizations, this area offers countless opportunities for involvement in academic, cultural, recreational, and special interest groups. Leadership development programs are open to all students and are designed to help individuals discover their strengths, build confidence, and lead with purpose.
- Student Activities and Traditions
This area brings the Chanticleer spirit to life through signature events, campus-wide celebrations, and long-standing traditions. These programs foster school pride, create lasting memories, and strengthen the sense of community at CCU.
Student Government Association

The Student Government Association (SGA) is comprised of student body elected executive officers and senators who represent each of the six academic colleges. The chief function of SGA is to serve as a liaison between the administration and the students of CCU, representing student opinion to the administration of the University, participating in the governance of the University by serving on many joint faculty-student committees, and serving as an ex-officio member of the University’s Board of Trustees.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) at Coastal Carolina University is a dynamic student-led organization that plays a central role in planning and organizing a wide range of engaging events and activities on campus. Comprised of enthusiastic student leaders, CAB aims to enhance the student experience by providing diverse and entertaining programming that caters to the interests and preferences of the student body. From hosting concerts, guest speakers, and comedy shows to organizing cultural events, themed parties, and recreational activities, CAB strives to create a vibrant and inclusive campus community where students can socialize, relax, and have memorable experiences outside the classroom.
Pathway1954

Pathway 1954 is a leadership and engagement initiative that adds value to the out-of-class experience for every CCU student. This is a self-paced, co-curricular experience that offers many opportunities for students to engage in content areas, including Career, Academics, Spirit and Traditions, Wellness, and Civic Engagement. Students that complete Pathway 1954 are inducted in the 1954 Society.
Teal and Bronze Society

The Teal and Bronze Society is a team of student leaders who specialize in school spirit and teaching others about our beloved Coastal traditions. They assist with events like Teal Tuesday, Homecoming, athletic events, and other large-scale campus events that spread community and pride.
Chanticleer Newspaper
The Chanticleer is Coastal Carolina University’s editorially independent newspaper, run by students, for students. Founded as The Fledgling in 1962, the newspaper strives to report on what matters most to the CCU community, whether it be stories from around the world or right in our backyard. First-Gen Chants
First-Gen Chants is Coastal Carolina University’s strategic initiative for students who are the first in their families to attend college. The program is designed to foster a strong sense of belonging, build community, and provide resources that empower first-generation students to succeed throughout their academic journey.
Through a combination of mentorship, educational workshops, and community engagement, First-Gen Chants offers:
- Mentorship Opportunities: Connections with faculty, staff, and peers who share the first-generation experience.
- Skill-Building Workshops: Sessions focused on academic success, financial literacy, career readiness, and personal development.
- Community Events: Celebrations and networking opportunities that highlight and honor the first-gen identity.
- Campus Advocacy: Efforts to raise awareness and promote a supportive environment for first-generation students across the university.

Dean of Students Office

The Dean of Students Office partners with Coastal Carolina University students, their families, faculty and staff to promote the holistic development of students, focusing on student advocacy, crisis management, and personal accountability. The office is responsible for administering University policies and procedures regarding student conduct. The primary functional areas within the Dean of Students Office are Community Standards and Accountability (CSA), Student Empowerment and Advocacy (SEA), and Chant Intervention Team (CIT).

The community standards and accountability team is responsible for enforcing the Code of Student Conduct. Students are expected to KNOW THE CODE, which outlines the rights and responsibilities of students as community members.
The student conduct process reviews and responds to alleged misconduct both on campus and in the surrounding communities in order to foster a safe academic and social environment for all students. With the assistance of hearing officers, as well as the Student Conduct Board, our team seeks to serve the entire campus community, especially those brought through the process, by educating students through their decision-making.
Student Empowerment and Advocacy

When a student encounters challenges that impact their academic or personal success, our Student Empowerment and Advocacy team is here to provide comprehensive support. Whether the issue is academic distress, financial distress, food insecurity, homelessness, or other personal hardships we are ready to assist.
Our team also offers advisement in University processes and policies, communication with faculty and staff, and guidance navigating concerning behaviors, ensuring students find community support and necessary resources during times of crisis.
Chant Intervention Team (C-IT)

The Chant Intervention Team (C‐IT) is composed of representatives from across campus whose mission is to identify and address behaviors that are concerning or disruptive to the campus community. The C‐IT collaborates to primarily assist students who are struggling to maintain adequate functioning due to behavioral, psychological, or medical concerns, but all reports received by the C-IT are routed to the most appropriate campus partner for case management.

Health and Well-Being
Health and Well-Being provides holistic well-being services to CCU students to support success inside and outside of the classroom. The below websites offer information about each of these offices and the services they provide.
Some of the programs offered in Health and Well-Being include:
- TimelyCare provides free and immediate access to medical and mental health support for all CCU students, available 24/7, 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States.
- Counseling and Support Groups for a variety of issues students may face in college.
- Interpersonal Violence Prevention and Support resources including confidential advocacy.
- Chants for Recovery provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for students seeking recovery and opportunities to engage in a substance-free college experience.
- Step Up bystander intervention program is an initiative to encourage students to “Step Up” in situations that have the potential to endanger the health and safety of others.

Accessibility and Disability Services

Accessibility and Disability Services (ADS) at Coastal Carolina University offers support and assistance to current and incoming students with disabilities and medical conditions by coordinating and implementing appropriate accommodations and providing resources and services as they relate to academics, university housing, dining, and campus activities. ADS functions as a source of information, educational outreach and advice, as well as a communication link among individuals with disabilities, faculty and staff, and the university community at large.
