PHYS 420 - Solid State Physics (3 credits)

(Prereq: MATH 161  or MATH 161B , PHYS 214 , and PHYS 212  or PHYS 213 ) A study of the fundamental properties of solids, especially semi-conductors and metals, such as structure, conductivity, and models of solids. Applications of quantum and statistical mechanics to the thermal and electrical properties of various types of solids are made. F.
