SPAN 306 - Spanish in the USA (3 credits) (Prereq: SPAN 211 with a grade of ‘C’ or better; placement by exam; instructor permission) This course examines the varieties of Spanish spoken in the United States and the effects of language contact and bilingualism. Students are introduced to issues such as linguistic attitudes, linguistic variation, language policies and bilingual education, especially as they relate to Spanish in the United States. Course is taught in Spanish. F.
