SMED 440 Social Media Pre-Professional Studio - 3 credits Prerequisite(s): SMED 101 or permission of the instructor. This course offers a pre-professional experience in which students provide social media content development and design work, as well as account management services, to members of the CCU campus and community partners. Working as pre-professional social media managers for external clients, students work across platforms (such as but not necessarily including or limited to Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn) to gain hands-on experience managing professional social media accounts through activities that go beyond just content creation; they also learn to develop content creation strategies, track the spread of social media content, and adapt their strategies in response to how content moves and performs. Students also learn how to maintain client relationships, manage time and deadlines, and collaborate across disciplines. Students should note that this course requires participation in extracurricular campus activities, as well as basic practical skills in design, content capture, videography, and photography as appropriate for social media content. Semester(s) Offered: Offered as needed
