Mission Statement
The Caribbean and Latin American Studies (CLAS) minor at Coastal Carolina University educates students to be active, global citizens for the 21st century and prepares them for a variety of careers in education, NGOs, public health, entertainment, business, government, and other professions. This interdisciplinary minor provides undergraduates with the knowledge and skills to learn about the diverse peoples, history, society, and cultures of Caribbean and Latin America. Students learn how to apply a scholarly approach to understanding the historical and contemporary issues facing these geographic areas and multiple strategies for addressing them. This minor consists of 18 credit hours of coursework, drawn from at least three disciplines and up to six disciplines.

Choose one course from the following:
Electives (15 credits)
Students must complete 15 credit hours at the 200 level or above, and 9 credit hours must come from different disciplines. Below is a list of pre-approved courses. See the minor advisor for additional courses, including time offered and modified courses that may also count as electives.
