Cultural Heritage Studies Certificate

The certificate in Cultural Heritage Studies prepares undergraduate students to understand, interpret, and promote a broad range of artifacts, texts, buildings, landscapes, and behaviors of cultures around the world. The 12-13 credit certificate program includes courses across multiple disciplines that introduce students to cultural heritage legislation and management, museum studies and collections management, and ethics and current issues facing museums and cultural sites. Students train in heritage interpretation and outreach, promoting community engagement in the process. This program complements a wide range of majors and supports career paths in public history, digital humanities, museum education and administration, cultural resource management, and heritage tourism.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate competency in core concepts and methods, and their applications in cultural heritage research.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current issues and legislation related to museums and cultural sites.
