The minor allows students to develop a regional area specialization that emphasizes knowledge of European history, society, culture, and politics. The minor affords students the opportunity for greater focus on Europe while familiarizing them with multiple disciplinary approaches to the study of the region. It will enhance their preparation for careers in government service, business, international organizations, teaching, and a wide range of other professions.
Student Learning Outcomes
- Students apply foreign language skills in culturally appropriate contexts.
- Students analyze historical trajectories that have led to current European political, social, and cultural practices and structures.
- Students examine aspects of European political systems in comparative perspective.
- Students explore different disciplinary approaches to the study of Europe as a region.
Requirements
- Students must complete all required and elective courses for the minor with a grade of ‘C’ or better.
- Two (2) courses must be completed from Section I and four (4) courses must be completed from Section II.
