ARTH 288 Arts of Japan - 3 credits

This course introduces the art and architecture of Japan, from prehistory to the present. Some topics covered include the function of art in ancient Japan, Buddhist art and architecture, samurai patronage, gardens, the tea ceremony, woodblock prints, and contemporary art.
