ECON 332 Labor Economics - 3 credits


Prerequisite(s): A grade of ‘C’ or better in ECON 201 Q*  and ECON 202 , or a grade of ‘C’ or better in ECON 101 
Economic analysis of the strategic aspects of human resource management at the firm and public policy levels. Focus on economic forces that influence hiring standards, employment, worker productivity, training programs, wages, and working conditions in the United States. Topics include the decline of job security, rise in educational and training requirements, managerial compensation and the use of incentive packages, impact of technology, trade, and unionization on employment and wages. Public policy issues include income inequality, safety and health, labor market discrimination, and the minimum wage.
