HIST 357 Exploring Middle Eastern Conflict - 3 credits This course examines the history of Middle Eastern conflict between the late 19th century and the present. It may consider such topics as nationalism, ethnic nationalism, population exchanges/refugees, ethnic conflict, colonialism, post-colonialism, civil war, war, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism. The course may require students to engage a wide-ranging selection of primary and secondary texts from different political perspectives. The course may be repeated for up to six credit hours under different topics. Semester(s) Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer
