GEOG 316 GIS for Government  -  3 credits


Prerequisite(s): GEOG 204  with a grade of ‘C’ or better
This course provides students with factual, conceptual, and procedural knowledge needed to develop and apply spatial thinking and problem solving skills to real-world problems in a variety of contexts including urban and regional planning, environmental health and public safety, historic preservation, and ecosystem services and sustainability. These goals are achieved through hands-on application of geospatial tools and technologies to assist and inform decision-making processes. Successful completion of the course requires students demonstrate the ability to prepare, update, manage, maintain, and apply geospatial data and analysis methods and techniques commonly practiced among local, regional, and national government agencies.
