MCES 498 Advanced Internship - 1 to 12 credits Restriction(s): This course is restricted to MCES majors. A contract must be approved by the instructor/faculty coordinator, off-campus supervisor, and the department chair by the time of registration. Prerequisite(s): Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a grade of C or better in 2 marine coastal environmental science or marine science lecture/lab pairs at the 300 level or above. Intensive off-site experience in marine coastal environmental science or a related field, as part of an approved competitive internship or research experience with primary supervision by a non-faculty member. May require work outside normal University working hours including weekends and holidays. Students are required to complete an appropriate term product as described in the internship application process. Requires a minimum of 50 hours of on-site, supervised, and evaluated student work experience per credit. Additional academic requirements may apply for specific internship opportunities. The course may be repeated for credit with different external providers and taken for 1 to 12 credits with each provider but no more than 6 total graded internship or research class credits may be used for major credit.
