ARTS 320 The Body as Art: Intro to Performance Art - 3 credits Prerequisite(s): ARTS 208 or THEA 149 or THEA 150 or Instructor Permission This course is an introduction to performance art through a visual arts lens. Students study ways the body is used as a material in art through the creation of individual and collaborative performance-based assignments. This course is experimental in nature and open to a range of interpretations of what is or could be “performance art”. In addition to making performance art, students engage with texts, media and participate in class discussion to understand historical and contemporary perspectives on performance art.
