ENGR 395 Internship Experience in Engineering - 0 Credits Restriction(s): Permission of the internship coordinator, the student has not completed ten (10) credits of ENGR495. and an approved contract or internship request (e.g., Handshake Experience). During the semester in which the student registers for this non-credit-bearing course, they must complete all requirements of the credit-bearing ENGR495, including completing the work hours required for the number of ENGR495 requested by the student at the time the contract or internship request is approved. Credits are earned at a rate of 50 work hours per credit. The student registers for ENGR495 in the following academic year for the credits approved at the time of registering in this course to allow the earned credits to be recorded in ENGR495 in the following Fall or Spring semester. Students are professionally supervised in an approved external or campus-based organization while working 50 hours during a semester for each credit hour enrolled. Before enrolling in this course, the student completes the required internship approval process (e.g., Handshake Experience). As part of the approval process, students are required to read and sign statements affirming they will conduct themselves professionally and ethically during the internship, provide internship learning objectives, obtain a Memorandum of Understanding signed by their Employer Supervisor and Internship Coordinator, and obtain approvals of the internship from the Employer Supervisor and Internship Coordinator. During the internship, students maintain an Engineering Workplace Competencies Gap Analysis Worksheet and maintain a log of their work hours that includes their employer supervisor’s approval. The Employer Supervisor also completes the Engineering Workplace Competencies Gap Analysis Worksheet to assess the student’s performance. Semester(s) Offered: Offered as needed
